Binning BT phoneline...any way of keeping email address?
El thicko alert. Slight panic. Have cancelled phoneline and switched to another provider. Going to lose @btinternet.com email address which fucks me up a treat. They say I’ll lose the lot within 30 days.

Is there a way to keep it or seamlessly link to a new one so that all future emails come to me? It kind of buggers my business if not.

And yes, I’ve wiped my cock on the whole sordid situation but to no avail.

Did the same three years ago and was warned of losing my email.
It’s still running and no issues

No, Joe. Switched over to Sky for less than half the price annually. Plus, I’ve been having problems with them for ages.

Block, I have an offer on this week if you’re interested...

Dumpy is going to lose out on business as a rent boy if his email shuts down.

Yep, something like that would be the plan. My point is, when BT kill off the email address there will be nothing to port over. So I’m fucked.

I used vodafone for all my emails until they stopped their email service in NZ, so I opened a gmail account and imported all emails and files/contacts through gmail instead, I didn't know how to do this so I paid someone to do it for me and it works well.

I cancelled BT 18 months ago and my email account has been accessible up to about a month ago.

Re: Binning BT phoneline...any way of keeping email address?
Why don't you make yourself a Gmail account, and import emails from that bt address?
I guess your 5 or 6 friend soon will remember your new email address

Re: Binning BT phoneline...any way of keeping email address?
If you know anyone who has an active BT account then they can add your email address to their account. They would need to know your email password but you can change that after it's sorted.

How much did you save by changing provider?

I’ll be honest, very happy to pay £7.50 a month to keep the address. The costs involved (and losses) in attempting to change are horrific.

Do you have a spastic-proof link telling me how I do this??

Re: Binning BT phoneline...any way of keeping email address?
Better to get your own website/domain name - about 4 quid a month for the web site host and 10 quid a year for the domain name.

Won't help your current predicament but will prevent you being caught like this again in the future.

I had to leave BT broadband when I moved to France nine years ago. To keep my BT email address (which was very important to me) I've had to pay ever since. The greedy cunts rip me off for £7.50 a month for something that others do for free.
One day I'll bite the bullet and dump the fuckers.

£7.50 a month. There's no way you'll make that back. Just go back to writing messages on a wall in chalk.

That’s basically all I want to do. But two questions:

1) has it worked (how long since you switched provider?)

2) If, as BT say, my @btinternet.com address eventually gets killed off, presumably the forwarding thing won’t work??

Re: Binning BT phoneline...any way of keeping email address?
Yeh I get that. Was just hoping some tech nerds could tell me how I could forward everything from a joe.bloggs@btinternet.com address to a new one (whatever my new provider is going to give me).

And even then, would it work if BT do as they say they will and just delete that original email addy? Can’t forward anything from a defunct email, right?

I hate change.
